Jenna Ortega Leaves Scream, Focuses on Netflix’s Wednesday and Beetlejuice

Jenna Ortega, the 21-year-old actress known for her role as Tara Carpenter in the Scream franchise, will not be returning for the seventh installment, Scream VII. This decision is due to conflicts with her shooting schedule for the Netflix series Wednesday.

The report also clarifies that her departure from the Scream franchise is unrelated to the recent firing of Melissa Barrera. It’s also mentioned that Jenna’s exit was discussed prior to the actors’ strike.

In April, Jenna will be heading to Ireland to shoot the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday, which will extend into the summer. She also has a few extra days of shooting for Beetlejuice to meet its Labor Day 2024 theatrical release.

Interestingly, a day before this news, her co-star, who plays her character Sam in the series, was let go from the seventh film due to social media postings about Israel-Palestine.

As of now, a script for Scream VII is not ready yet. Both Spyglass Media Group and the upcoming movie’s director have spoken out about the recent firing.
